BMS-II Battery Maintenance System

Charges up to five different battery packs. Maintains peak battery condition.The BMS-II System is the successor to Sensidyne’s older BMS-100 and BMS-200 Systems. It will charge up to five Gilian battery packs simultaneously, in any combination. It handles packs from any NiCd Gilian pump model (except for the model LFS-113, which can be charged by the Low Flow 5-Station Charger). Polarized plugs prevent the battery connection from being reversed.

Note: The BMS-II is not recommended for use with NiMH battery packs newly available for GilAir-3 and GilAir-5 air sampling pumps.

Automatic "Continuous-to-Trickle" Charging

The technology built into this system is designed to shorten recharging time while preventing battery damage from overcharging. It charges at a full rate only until the battery nears a full charge, then automatically switches to trickle charge.

Three Charging Sequences Match NiCd Battery Condition

The BMS-II keeps your Gilian NiCd battery packs in peak operating condition by allowing you to pick one of three different charging modes to match that battery’s condition:

1. Automatic Charging Mode is used for fully discharged NiCd batteries and charges the battery up to a fully charged condition.
2. Memory Erase / Single Capacity Evaluation Mode is for partially spent NiCd batteries. This mode completely discharges the battery before recharging it, eliminating battery memory problems. When NiCd batteries are only partially discharged prior to recharging (as often is the case with air sampling), they can develop a "memory" which prevents them from fully discharging, thereby reducing their usable capacity and battery life. 
3. Memory Erase / Double Capacity Evaluation Mode is for reconditioning a "lazy" NiCd  battery that will not run for a full eight hours. It does so by discharging, charging, discharging and charging the pack again.
